What is a replica?

A replica is a new teddy made true to a historical model, such as a Steiff bear from 1951. A replica made decades ago is itself a vintage teddy today.

Steiff describe their replicas as made exactly and true to their historical models, and mark them with a white ear tag with black lettering. Replicas are often limited editions.

A replica made in the 1990s is now more than 20 years old, so it is both a replica and a vintage teddy.
